Global Renewable Energy Consultant & EPC

CHALLENGE:

A global renewable energy consultancy and EPC was looking to develop a DER solution to support electric truck charging at a greenfield truck stop location.

The client was struggling to understand how to construct the facility quickly and economically, within the constraints of their existing infrastructure and grant requirements.

SOLUTION:

Using the XENDEE platform, the client was able to model dozens of scenarios quickly to help choose the optimal arrangement for their site.  Scenarios included variables such as:

  • Tariff selection
  • Interconnection vs islanded
  • Mix of solar/battery/generator
  • How each of these change or impact financials with different EV penetration scenarios

RESULTS:

XENDEE enabled the client to understand the optimal DER mix for an islanded microgrid that would be resilient to outages and rising utility costs, as well as the upside and downside risks associated with different EV penetration scenarios -- allowing the project to proceed.
