How Mayfield Renewables Accelerated Their Engineering Process

Mayfield Renewables has integrated Xendee into their microgrid consulting business to rapidly grow the size and capabilities of their energy services branch. This has led to far more projects being completed per quarter including a resilience project for the Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC), a tribal consortium in Interior Alaska that received a $26 million grant from the U.S.D.O.E Office of Clean Energy to bring solar PV and energy storage to eight remote Alaskan villages.

The Business Case

Xendee has been excited to support Mayfield Renewables with our software tools as they have run feasibility studies for these projects and others like them. This video gives a quick glimpse into how they’re using Xendee to simplify the techno-economic analysis with these complex projects, increase efficiency, and grow their business.

Simplifying Complexity with Xendee

The transition to distributed, cleaner energy is inherently complex, and continues to grow in complexity. This partly comes from the unique set of variables associated with each project, such as the different DER technologies being combined, unique locational requirements, spacing, weather, and opportunities like incentive programs and utility tariffs.

Why Mayfield Renewables Chooses Xendee

Xendee was recommended to Mayfield Renewables by Michiel Zudweig, Principle at MZ Solar Consulting. According to Michiel, Xendee was recommended due to "ease of use, a smart visual interface, and easily digestible information" in the form of our financial feasibility studies and detailed engineering reports that are generated alongside every optimization.

Improving Mayfield's Time to Quote and Close Deals

The use of Xendee has led to faster engineering times on feasibility studies and has greatly increased the speed of Mayfield's consulting business. So far, their team has produced over 30+ reports, leading to more revenue and more capabilities without overburdening the team or increasing staffing.

"We have to build a model that understands what those loads look like and then be able to match that scenario with storage and solar.  So it's become much more complex." - Ryan Mayfield, Founder & SME

The Tanana Chiefs Conference Alaskan Microgrid Project

Mayfield Renewables, using Xendee’s DESIGN microgrid modeling software, conducted feasibility studies and preliminary engineering to support the grant application process for Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC).

This groundbreaking project, spearheaded by the TCC, will see PV arrays and battery storage systems integrated into existing microgrids in Nulato, Huslia, Minto, Kaltag, Grayling, Anvik, Shageluk, and Holy Cross. These communities, now 100% reliant on expensive air-lifted diesel fuel, will see a 40% reduction in diesel consumption, leading to lower energy costs and cleaner air.

With Xendee's DESIGN, they were able to streamline the feasibility study process, including the creation of detailed financial and technical reports that were needed for decision making.
