Large electric utility infrastructure company was developing an energy solution for a large, new, greenfield mixed commercial/residential facility in southern California.
The local Utility can only support up to 3MW of imports, so the majority of the expected load would have to be delivered onsite.
The client was interested in carport solar and linear generators, and wanted to know the optimal mix and expected usage of the microgrid for an Energy as a Service (EaaS) request for proposal response.
Using Xendee, the client was able to build a realistic load profile for the building type and expected peak load.
They modeled the specific generator performance they were considering, and pulled local solar performance data.
Then limited the correct local tariff and interconnection constraint from the Utility
Running a minimum cost optimization in Xendee resulted in the expected annual dispatch, total and average costs of energy, and the optimal mix of solar and generators to support the site.
With this, the client was able to provide a quote for the lowest cost solution that would still reliably serve the expected load.
